Mark Smitham

Mark Smitham supports the development and co-ordination of policy proposals, in particular in respect of the Digital Single Market strategy (DSM), with a view to ensuring coherence in the implementation of the European Commission's policy in the area of cloud computing, such as the Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive and revision of the European Interoperability Framework (EIF).

Mark's experience leading the information security work stream of the UK Government G-Cloud programme was invaluable to enable digital innovation at the European Commission through their procurement of secure cloud services (Cloud1) for use by the EU Institutions.

Mark has previously managed large IT projects to deliver resilient systems in very high-profile and secure environments of large central UK government departments and led business improvements in municipal administrations working in multidisciplinary teams of officials, consultants and suppliers.
